Cantina Mayahuel
Restaurants2934 Adams Ave, San Diego, CA 92116, USA

Probably the best Mexican food in San Diego. Don’t shoot the messenger. Fun fact: they also have one of the largest agave selections on the west coast. Snag a seat at the bar and get lost in the impressive list of tequila, mezcal and sotol.

Buona Forchetta

Everything you’d hope for in a neighborhood Italian trattoria: family owned and operated, servers who actually speak Italian, no reservations, daily changing specials (handwritten on chalkboard, of course), handmade pasta and Neapolitan pizza. Pro tip: If there’s a wait (and there most likely will be), give your phone number to the hostess and grab a drink across the street at Kindred.

Point Loma Seafoods
Restaurants2805 Emerson St, San Diego, CA 92106, USA

When you want to eat fried fish and tartar sauce on the dock, marvel at the view of sailboats on the bay, and feel like you’re living the San Diego dream, Point Loma Seafoods is there for you. It’s also a fish market, so you can stop in to pick up some of the freshest, locally caught seafood to cook at home. Be prepared to wait in line: first a line of cars waiting to park, and then a line of people waiting to order. The wait goes fast and is well worth it.

Mama's Bakery & Lebanese Deli

This hole-in-the-wall Mediterranean café is a sanctuary for those seeking traditional Lebanese fare in a casual setting. Savor your wrap off the sajj in the indoor garden setting, or call ahead and pick up your food to go.
